    salmonella poisoning

Dogs and cats can carry salmonella, as well. Especially, (sorry for the gross information) if they are known poop eaters. Greyhounds are notorious poop eaters, and can carry salmonella.

    Fecal

My vet applied a little pressure, and.....drum roll....fecal sample...as fresh as they come. Of course, he has raised tortoises for about 20 years, so maybe not all vets are able to "produce" a sample in their office.

    turtle cafe?

Even though that is a possibitlity, it does not explain their lack of communication. Simply put, their customer service sucks. If I provided that kind of customer service, my company would fold up. No excuse not to communicate, if even to say that it shows it was delivered, so it is a...

    Hatchling Observations

No worries, Neal! My Gpp eats, sleeps, hides, eats, sleeps, hides, etc.. He is ALWAYS deep in his substrate, or in his hide, unless he is eating. I would say your guy is on track!

greek tortoise idle, sleepy not taking food

Also, you may not have to wait for a stool sample to take with, if you are having a hard time getting one. My vet manipulates the bottom of his shell with a little pressure, and gets a urine and fecal sample immediately. I was stunned, as I did not expect that to be a possibility. You may...

Soo... when will it stop hiding?

Good topic, and just in time. I was going to start a topic on this exact subject, but....here it is... My Gpp eats, sleeps, soaks, poops, pees, rinse and repeat. He RARELY leaves the burrows of his substrate or his hide, but is fine. Just had a check up with the vet (who is a tort owner)...

Where did you get your tortoise from?

Scutes, a GPP, came from Jeff Gee in Arizona (Captive Bred Wildlife).

    A couple pictures of "Scutes"

No. He is actually from Jeff Gee with Captive Bred Wildlife. He is the only Pardalis Pardalis I could find, and was very happy that he came from Jeff. It appears that Jeff is extremely knowledgeable, having 25 years of Leopards experience (breeding), and one of only a handful of people in the...

    A couple pictures of "Scutes"

I had a few PM's asking me to post pics of "Scutes", so here he is. I will get more pics after the Thanksgiving week. Trying the humid environment. I saw some young sulcatas at a local pet store that was already showing signs of pyramiding, and they are in a VERY dry environment...

    Weight/length in Torts

Thank you, Danny. Very useful guideline for me to measure against. I don't think weight will be a problem with this guy, as he has displayed a good appetite every since I have had him. Thank you again!

    GALAPAGOS BREEDER

Jeff is who I got my Leopard (Pardalis Pardalis) from. Very easy guy to deal with, and he possesses a wealth of experience. Just FYI.

    Weight/length in Torts

Just started a chart for "Scutes" growth, and was wondering what is a "typical" measurement for weight and length gain per early development. I fully realize there are MANY factors, etc., but just a ballpark. Scutes was born the first week of September (roughly), and now weighs 44 grams...

    New to the Tortoise Family

Hello everyone! I am new to the Tortoise Community, purchasing my 1st ever, a Leopard Tortoise, Pardalis Pardalis, and now, I am addicted! I waited 2 months to research the breed, and find exactly what I was looking for (Pardalis Pardalis can be fairly hard to locate). Anyway, here is a...
