want to know what this little guy is. i had a tortoise who sadly passed away some time ago and my sister found this guy and took it home wondering if i would want it. any help with the species and help taking care of him would be greatly appreciated
nope, but i'm thinking about adding some at some point when i get a better understanding of what to put in and how to make sure its safe (as in fertilizers and pesticides and such)
they really are! it drives me crazy that he doesnt just hang out somewhere that i can see him all the time. but if he like it then im all for it. thanks for the peace of mind : )
well i'm a newbie here but from what i've gathered you want anywhere around 70-85 on the cool end and around 90-100 for basking with a good hide close by the basking area. also humidity around 70%+ hope this helps and anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.
cover the whole thing or just the side i need temps up? and initially i was gonna go for choir but reading through the famous hermanni chris' care sheet he seemed pretty fond of aspen wood shavings. but i might mix it up next time i need to replace the substraight.
How can I increase the Temps in newton's enclosure? I moved the basking lamp down a bit but the 5.0 tube uva, uvb light isn't as easy. Any tips. Temps on the cooler side are around 70-80 but majority of the time low 70s. Also the tube light is about 18 inches above

Okay, just worked out a deal to get a 55 Gal tank so that fixes the room issue for a least a little while. all of the links were very helpful. keep em coming if you still have anything useful. i'm all ears
I am aware that tortoises are pets for life and also that they do require a lot of attention in order to stay healthy which is why i came to this site in order to learn how to best care for my tortoise. Thank you for the advice but for now lets just assume that i am getting a tortoise even with...
Well I am currently in college and living on campus so I dont have any room to permanently set up an outside enclosure but I am thinking of getting a 15-20 gal tank for the first first year after which I will most likely move off campus and will be able to purchase a larger tank. This is also...
