Have you tried soaking him in warm water? I notice my baby does that sometimes as well, like hes really sleepy then after a good soak hes much more active.
Are these the kind of bulbs that will burn my sulcatas eyes? Ive read on here before that coil bulbs, I think, will burn their eyes. Is that what this is? My husband picked these up today and I wasn't sure. Thanks in advance:)
I definitely will! Thank you for your response. His shell is very smooth now. He seems to dislike the moist substrate clinging to his body. I say that because he is far more active in a little drier environment where he is provided a water dish that he goes into as he wants. I soak him daily...
My sulcata is around 9 months, is it necessary that his entire enclosure be maintained at around 80% humidty or is providing a decent sized humid hide suffient? And allowing the humidty level in the rest of the enclosure to drop? We are about to upgrade to a larger size to give him more space...
I use a uva/uvb/heat. With a zilla ceramic socket. Could diet have any bearing on it as well?

Im going to seal off his enclosure better to trap more humidity and heat amd hopefully that will help!!!
:( oh well. Guess I'll just keep referring to it as a he. Leon may be Leona one day.

Any guesses on age?

The person I bought him said 7 months and that was almost 2 months ago.
Does this look like the start of pyramiding? I soak daily and his enclosure is at 60% humidity, temps range from 95 to 80. I also use a multivitamin in his food. Trying to keep the little guy as healthy as possible:)
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
If you go to the sulcata section and read the top post there is a lot of great information on feeding, housing etc. Best of luck with your baby :)
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
Okay, I will monitor him very closely. I do appreciate and thank you for all of your advice!!! One more question, I was soaking him today and he either peed or pooped out some white stuff, is that normal?
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
Even if I cover the top?

I will definitely go with a deeper home I just think my light isn't sufficient for heat. Which I can get another or a better one
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
It the red container he was just hiding up against the edge. I moved him back to his previous home and I am putting a plexiglass top on tomorrow I jist need to get another size. Since being moved back hes eating and moving around and is very...
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
How tall do you think the sides should be? He just seems so much more active in his tortoise table than the rubber made container. I can put a plexiglass on the tortoise table. What to do, what to do:-/
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
It looks like this. I think it can be removed. I don't trust those clamps either. My husband is going to fix it so its safe. I also wasn't sure about the red container. Its something I already had and im not opposed to getting a different...
Re: Indoor tortoise inclosure for baby sulcata
I replaced the dry pellets to coconut coir and moved him from his tortoise table to a rubber made container and got a piece of plexiglass to cover the top. One thing I am not happy with is my light fixture, its a zilla brand with a flexible arm and...
