Hi everyone, I rescued this turtle from death row. I really wasn't planning on getting another turtle, but hey, life gave this poor girl lemons.

The pet store that she was in has no information on her. She was purchased as a gift for someone that didn't know how to properly care for her. The poor thing had shell rot (almost all healed) and was brought to the pet store because they didn't want her anymore.

Could I get a bit of help identifying her species and approximate age? All input is very appreciated!ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1454883214.998279.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1454883226.247731.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1454883240.332683.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1454883251.217086.jpg

the bottom of the shell looks like a red eared slider any chance it has red on the side of it's face?

There is no red. I can't get her to pull herself out for a better photo. She is very timid.
One of the staff said "Chinese something" but that was all they could tell me.

Thank you, Mark! Is there anything out of the ordinary I should know about this species? And can you tell how old she might be?

They're actually pretty easy turtles. Set up just as you would a red ear or cooter. Feed a good quality turtle pellet as the staple part of diet. No way of knowing age as growth depends upon quality of food and care. If I had to guess maybe 3-5 years??? Shes still small as a big female can get to about 12". She really does look pretty good At current size would do ok in a 55 gal tank but when full grown would do better in larger tank.

Absolutely Mark... you actually got one right.. hahahahaha! The 'nose' gave it away in the 4th pic.. at least that was my first guess!

Probably will not continue to grow a lot "real soon".. but being a lake/river type turtle it will do better in as big a tank as you can provide ASAP!

She looks real good actually!!!

Ocadia sinensis are prone to shell rot. luckily this one just got some minor rot and a nipped tail.
you can just treat it like reeves but watch the water quality
