    vegetarianism

I'm a veggie, my reasons have changed over time, but now it is mostly to help the environment, the amount of damage that the agriculture system does to the world is enormous, look it up sometime. I don't force my views on others at all, but one thing I do request is that you do not eat veal...

Hi, There is a A.S. Zoo Animal Technology Program (zookeeping school) that I attended in Gainesville, FL at Santa Fe Community College. They run their own zoo. It is actually where I got to like tortoises. They have many species of tortoise and turtles, along with many other mammals, birds...

    Sulcatta Emergency

If you are willing to drive a little ways, I have a great reptile vet in Lakeland, FL. I take my sulcata there, and in fact they have a sulcata that lives at their clinic. Her name is Dr. Theresa Merckel at the Polk County animal hospital. I think she does work on weekends, and they will...

    Death

Sorry to heat about your little guy. If it has not been too long, you could bring it to a vet to get a necropsy and find out exactly what happened. It helps a lot with piece of mind and adjusting techniques for your other torts. Good luck!

    My sulcatas diet

Enclosure looks good, nice to have a bit of room to grow. I would say you don't need all those different kinds of pellets, especially if she is already eating grass and hay, most young ones don't like that. I would instead spoil her with a flower! Good luck and have fun! Dianne

I have a ton of ants on my hibiscus here in Florida too, I just rinse the flowers and leaves off with water before feeding them to my sulcata. They aren't fire ants, so I just leave them be. Dianne

    Number of spurs on thighs

I was looking carefully at our yearling "Io" and noticed that she had 3 spurs on one leg (one slightly smaller), and two on the other. I read a couple of places that they usually have 2. Does anyone else have a sulcata with more or less spurs? I assume that it can't hurt anything, I was...
