Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone could help me, I live in the UK and I'm building an outdoor enclosure for my Russian.
I am thinking about using coco coir for the majority of the substrate in there but having tried and failed to grow weeds in this before I am wanting some top soil in some areas...
Thanks very much Tom. His diet at the minute is mostly dandelion leaves, sowthistle, some pansies, rocket, homegrown weed mixes (from the website swell reptiles) and a small bit of lettuce (all in variation and moderation) when weeds are limited but with me living in the North of England weeds...
His substrate is moist and I make sure I mist it everyday and take everything out and soak it a bit more every week. I will try the coconut oil! Thank you:)
Hi,
I'm wondering if someone can help me. I'm concerned about my Russian's shell. It has been this way since I got him a couple of month ago, he is only 10 month but his shell does not look like other hatchlings I've seen. He sort of has the arch on the top and then it sticks out almost like a...

I'm just wondering if you got your tort off a woman in County Durham?

Hi all,
I have my 9 month old Russian in a tortoise table with coco coir as his substrate. At first I was worried it was too damp but then it dried out and now I'm worried it's too dry (o_O) and so I do mist it everyday.
Now I thought I had done a lot of research and knew what I was doing but...
I measure the basking temperature with a digital thermometer and hold it directly under the middle of the lamp, roughly where the top of Winston's shell would be and at the highest temp it's about 26-27 degrees.
Hi,
I'm currently using the attached bulb for my 8 month old horsfield and I've read lots of good reviews about it but for someone reason, at 12inches above the tortoise is it only reaching about 25 degrees centigrade. I'm scared to put it any closer in case it burns him.
Would any one advise...
Thank you.
He's a horsefield and I've heard they don't really like a lot of dampness and humidity should be at around 60%-70%.
I have read them links and they are very helpful and useful but I just feel so confused now!!
