Basking on their morning outing. I am sure they know how to regulate their own body temperature, but I kept fretting and moving them to and from the shade so they didn't get too hot.
@Yellow Turtle01 haha you and me both because I can't yet pick out distinguishing characteristics. They don't have super large spurs on their legs indicative of sulcata. I do NOT want a 200 lb animal for my first tort.
I have been informed on my identification post they are California Desert Tortoises. Whew, thank goodness because that's what I was told they were. Wasn't sure though, the guy that gave them to us feeds all of his tortoise lettuce. I mean how much does he know about tortoises if he's doing that? :/
hehehehe! well, sulcata babies are usually paler in color, anyway. Like a light tan.
I'm actually beginning to wonder if they are desert tortoises. Which are of course, a larger tort species. I don't know a bunch about them, but I'm pretty sure @Tom does. maybe he can id them
