My new forest hingeback is about 8in or so from the front to the back of his shell. Can anyone tell me about how old he is and/or how big I can expect him to get? Thanx.
If it is 8", it is an adult, but not fully grown. I have two that are 11".
They will continue to grow throughout their lifetime. Actual age is hard to guess - they reach sexual maturity at 8-10 years or so, but because they are wild caught, it is impossible to guess at age (unless they are like my baby and do not yet have a fully developed hinge - that tells me she is less than 3 years old.)
Females are also larger than the males. Post tail/plastron pics if you would like us to sex it for you.
