Your story is almost to a T of what happened to my Lana. Her shell is in worse shape than your torts. I dont have any idea how old Lana is but im sure she is older than her size. She has grown so much in the last 2 years that I have had her. I dont mind the shell, in fact it is a good way to teach people by showing what poor care will do. Lana has been in the news paper 2 times now and last school year she went to 7th grade when they were studying reptiles. I am so happy for your tort to be living in a great place now. yes hes doing really good still hasent gained no weight but he will be out side soooo much when it warms up.
