Hello welcome to the forum I would switch your substrate pellets are not good for them for many reasons you could go with cypress mulch, organic soil, coco coir

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!! Dimitri is a real cutey-pie. Looks like he might be captive bred rather than wild caught. I agree about the pellets for substrate. Its awfully dry, and hard for little tortoises to walk on.

thank you for all your positive responses i feel very welcomed! and to answer the substrate question this is just a temporary measure until I can get to the pet store tomorrow and I'm in the uk here's some more pics of 'Mitri (when he was in the garden this morning)
