it's a big plant and would simply sit in the enclosure, not be planted. i know it's not toxic and safe to eat in small amounts, but does anyone have experience with it?

I have quite an extensive collection of different types of Hoya. My Manouria always eat the trailing plants so I have to keep them up and out of the way. Your steppe tortoise might also take bites off the leaves that hang down into his habitat.

The milky sap of the hoya plant might cause skin irritation, however, my tortoises have never suffered any ill effects from eating the leaves.

thank you! and yeah, they took a couple bites out of it then left it alone :D i decided to hang it in my leopards house because she's less of a fatty haha. plus, it'll help with the humidity :)

i gave the Russians some spider plants with their normal clover growing in a plastic tray :)
