I'm not a big fan of Repti-bark...the pieces are too big. I prefer Orchid Bark, which comes in a small variety and is easier for the smaller turtles and tortoises to dig into. I have a minimum of three inches, sometimes more, but pay attention to the top of the side walls. Too much bark and the tortoise can climb out.

Coco coir or finely reduced peat moss...at least 5-6 inches deep...packed down my hand so there is a solid surface to move about on....:D
