My male tortoise seems very interested in the dog's toys.

Today, while he was out, the dog was playing with a squeaky kong ball.

Castor seemed to be going out of his way to greet or confront the dog.

The dog seems a bit intimidated.

Could the squeaking noise be interpreted as a mating call?

How do I know if this guy is being aggressive?

I put Castor back in his enclosure. Castor is around six years old.

1. Dogs and torts don't mix. Dogs, even the best behaved, treat torts as chew toys too often and you have only to be distracted for a minute

2. Torts should only be in their enclosure. We have far too many escapes, both indoors and out, reported by owners of those allowed out "to exercise". Worse still we have had them stepped on... Again you have only to be distracted for a moment

3. Male torts when on a hormonal high will challenge or mate with anything. My Joe versus lawnmower, wheelie bin and buckets is well reported on here... But he'll go for smaller stuff too and has scared the heck out of a few cats in his time too.

Castor needs to be in a proper enclosure where he is completely safe and cannot meet your dog.
