Can I jump straight in with a question? I do keep Sulcata's (in England) but this is for a friend who just got a hatchling. Is a Mercury Vapour bulb 160w too much for a hatchling or not?

Welcome to the forum.
I would think it would depend more on the temperatures your friend is getting rather than the size of the bulb.

I just wasn't sure with it being so tiny. I'm used to the big ones! LOL

I can't help you with your lighting question because I don't use them, but we're glad to have someone from "across the pond" here on the forum. How big is your sulcata?

My Sulcata is five. She's gorgeous, lovely shell. I am very strict with food! lol
