Is there any concern with putting a heat rope under a substrate that plants are growing in (either potted or not)?

I think it would depend on the plant, depth of substrate, if the ropes were on full blast, etc.

I had a couple potted succulents in an almost closed chamber with high humidity, using a heat rope false bottom. One plant is fine and the other got mushy and had to be taken out.

I threw some seeds in there and they sprouted in the greenhouse like conditions, until little tort gobbled them up.

I think you'll just have to see.
