Common Tort Lingo Here on Forum

I wanted to start a thread on the tort lingo. im familiar with a lot of it but im sure as well as many others are not. So i figured i would start with what i know and everyone else could add to it. keep in mind i know a little turtle but mainly tortoises.

1.1.1-1 male 1 female 1 undetermined

example:
1.1.0 is 1 male 1 female

Sullie-Sulcata
Leo-Leopard tortoises
CDT-California Desert Tortoise
DT-Desert Tortoise
YF-Yellow Foot
Hermmie-Hermans Tortoise
RT-Russian Tortoise

Personally, I hate to see us give credence to the "nick names." For example, I really HATE "sully." "Boxie" is another pet peeve.

I prefer using the entire term as well. I figured it would help clarify for some that aren't use to it.

Of course, you could also look at the use of such names as redfoot or sulcata, as a "nick name" also.
