I wanted to start a thread on the tort lingo. im familiar with a lot of it but im sure as well as many others are not. So i figured i would start with what i know and everyone else could add to it. keep in mind i know a little turtle but mainly tortoises.

1.1.1-1 male 1 female 1 undetermined

example:
1.1.0 is 1 male 1 female

RF-redfoot
Sullie-Sulcata
Leo-Leopard tortoises
CDT-California Desert Tortoise
DT-Desert Tortoise
YF-Yellow Foot
Hermmie-Hermans Tortoise
RT-Russian Tortoise
MEP-Manouria Emys Phayrei (burmese black)
MEE-Manouria Emys Emys (burmese brown)
MI-Manouria Impressa (impressed)
RADS-Radiated
CHRF-Cherry Head Redfoot

i cant think of anything else so please everyone add as you wish.

DT can also be a Diamondback Terrapin (they are also sometimes labeled DbT)

Personally, I hate to see us give credence to the "nick names." For example, I really HATE "sully." "Boxie" is another pet peeve.

:) I prefer using the entire term as well. I figured it would help clarify for some that aren't use to it.

Of course, you could also look at the use of such names as redfoot or sulcata, as a "nick name" also. :p
