I doubt it this is the 4th or 5th box turtle or tortoise I've seen at this shelter in the past month. I was hoping the red foot they had last week was still there but he was adopted. Hopefully by so,done knowledgable

Our shelter no longer takes exotic animals. But Alabama does not have as many tort owners like California does.

Raeann, it's in Orange County, California. A little ways south of LA. They get surprisingly a lot of reptiles... In the couple months I've been watching, mostly torts and boxies, but also things like a beardie, iguana, ball python... Poor things. They seem to get adopted pretty quick, hopefully to good homes.
