When I found this box turtle in my turtle yard back in September, he was about the size of a U.S. nickel. He was so very, very tiny. The only reason I spotted him was he was sitting on the cement next to the fence, his dark shell next to the light grey of the cement. He lives in a plastic shoe box inside the Vision Cage where my baby desert tortoises live. I've set him out so you all can see the size comparison. He's damn near as big as the baby desert tortoises, who also hatched last September:
He eats the same food that I prepare for the baby desert tortoises - a combination of greens and veggies, but for his I also add the juice from a can of canned cat food, to flavor the greens. I haven't tried him on live food yet, but I will some day.
