Being a photographer myself.
And a tortoise lover obviously.
I just tried to convey a message of conservation.
Hardly people think for these poor creatures.
I wish to spread this photograph to a large number of people.
And with unity,we take tortoise conservation to new levels.
This photo speaks a lot.The tortoise is beautiful. But he is behind bars.
Feel free to comment.

Thank You,
Always Yours,
Parth

The message is very clear, look at your picture makes me want to take the poor tortoise in it and make him free, he looks so scared :(. You did a very good job!

Your picture is very beautiful, but I must be missing something, or not seeing something in the picture. Don't we all fence in our torts? Is this a picture of a wild one?

I'm so glad you said that Terry. I too think the tortoise is beautiful. Each growth ring is so pronounced and yet the tortoise is almost smooth (pyramid-wise). I DID see the wire fence on the right side of the tortoise, but then, all my tortoises are fenced in too. So unless there's a story about this particular tortoise, I don't get the conservation angle.

When I looked at the pic, I thought about a sad tortoise who is not happy and is not taken care of. Maybe it is the way the tortoise is in his shell (even if Hermy does that when he is asleep :D). I find that the pic gives the message (take care of your tort).

I took it as a habitat loss/restriction message.

The tortoise is so beautiful and so is the photograph that I didn't even notice the fence part until I read your post then I went back and saw it. I think I was too focused on the tortoise and the word to notice anything else. Beautiful picture though.

Madkins007 took it right.
Are we that helpless?
That we cant even give it the natural environment it requires even in captivity?
I just wanted to ask a question.
Hi emysemys,
Dont you think we still lack a perfect enclosure for the tortoises. This is not for you since you are a very experienced keeper.
I mean.Look at this tortoise.
He is living in this place for about 10 years, and feeding only on Tomatoes.
Howsoever cold it is,he is kept in the open.
Poor enclosure.Dirty water.

The message is,
Take care of your tortoise to its fullest.(I know you all care for him/her)
Let it feel at home.
And save tortoises who are not taken care of.
Here at the Zoological Park. There is an adoptation scheme. But i dont have so much money right now.I think i will ask for help.
There are many turtles and tortoises kept in horrible conditions. What do you say?Should I take a step ahead?

'He' was brought here because of loss of habitats. He was flushed in heavy rains.
The point is.Its very nice someone saved its life.
But is this the situation he i to be kept in?
Horrible food,No water! Just a cage. Not more than 5 sq ft.

Yes, but we couldn't see any of that in the picture. We just see a beautiful tortoise, who is smooth and healthy looking. We cannot see the "horrible food, no water, just a cage part of this picture. The story behind the picture is missing.
