TWIGLET

In my heart I knew I wanted you the moment our eyes met,

You were such a little stumpy thing, a little rocky pet

I didn't know what imports were, or how you came to be

I only knew how small you were with eyes that said `help me',

A woodchip floor, no water dish, the pet shop thought was fine

But in my heart I felt your pain, from then on you were mine,

I wish I'd bought your little friends, it was hard to leave them there

With a man who yearned for profit, and a man who didn't care

A man who trades in stolen lives, a trade that needs to stop

A man who deals in misery, the man who owns the shop!

At least your pain is over, your free now you're with me

I cant offer you the wilderness, but its as close as it can be

You'll feel the sun upon your face, its warmth upon your shell

Your lungs will fill with fresh air now, no more that living hell

For in my heart I needed you, the moment our eyes met,

To share my life, grow old with me, my baby rock…Twiglet.
