    Sick sulcata

Thank you both. I am glad he isn't suffering the way he was but I am sad he didn't pull through to end that suffering with a more positive outcome.
  2. Cloverhand

    Sick sulcata

I was just notified that he died overnight. I dropped him off at the rescue to stay while I am away and he didn't survive the night.
  3. Cloverhand

    Sick sulcata

I know, he is declining very rapidly at this point. Thank you.
  4. Cloverhand

    Sick sulcata

Thank you. Knowing he will be in very good hands helps a lot, but it is still pretty hard knowing how sick he is.

    Sick sulcata

Latest update: he is doing worse despite doing literally everything I can. His plastron is worsening, he is still not eating, and remaining lethargic. His eyes are still open about 50% of the time and he does move around a little. I am taking him to the rescue tomorrow because I am leaving the...

    Sick sulcata

Thank you. I am trying the best I can, at a minimum I have gotten his temps and humidity up. I am hoping he makes it but I know he may not. Thank you for all your help and checking on him.

    Sick sulcata

Trust me I was less than amused. He did not flat refuse he offered "help", but then would not let me ask him a single question. When I told him I bought one of their babies and I wanted to talk to them about how they raise them he wanted to know why so I told him that the tortoise has been sick...

    Sick sulcata

Screen is gone. Was only there because A: it came with my tank and I didn't realize it cut uv like glass and plastic and B: it was helping support the lights. Either way, easiest fix yet.

    Sick sulcata

I can get a slightly better photo later on but I am at work, this is what I have on hand. I did change the bedding I said I was using coconut coir, this is cyprus mulch. As I said in another post, soaks are twice a day in warm water that stays warm. (20-30 minutes each). I will consider...

    Sick sulcata

A lot of these I did answer, however I made a lot of changes after meeting with someone who does tortoise and turtle rescue in my area. He was able to give me a lot of information to use to try and get him healthy (if this is in fact reversible obviously). I was only attempting to speak with the...

    Sick sulcata

He is still really lethargic and mostly not eating. He ate the tiniest bit yesterday but then slept the rest of the day. He woke up and had enough energy after I soaked him. So he is still doing pretty poorly. I am going to the expo here shortly to talk to the breeder as well to see what they...

    Sick sulcata

I appreciate your input. But as I have looked into both of the issues you are presenting I am not treating him for shell rot right now since, as Tom stated, I have a very dry enclosure and his underside is perfect except for the softness. I do appreciate the time you took to give advice, but for...

    Sick sulcata

The shell is soft on the bottom only (never hardened since I got him) and on the sides toward the bottom. His shell is not deformed and not soft along the top.

    Sick sulcata

Thank you for all of the resources. I will look into everything and do what I can for him, including questioning the breeder. I had a feeling that might be the case.

    Sick sulcata

23 : thanks, I will look for those lights instead and the meter. 24 : I want to turn the enclosure into a closed system for humidity sake because my home is very dry and I cannot maintain a high humidity. I will keep looking into this. So reading this I am assuming there isn't much I can do...

    Sick sulcata

1: I can get the basking area warmer 2: yes he is soaked every day. He also put himself in his water in addition to me soaking him (or was this decreased) 3: I had a feeling this was all wrong and he was wrong to tell me to force feed. It made everything worse the one time I tried. 4 : I got...

    Sick sulcata

My 8 month old sulcata has become sick over the past week now. I took him to the vet in my area who works with reptiles (after reading some other sick sulcata forums I am questioning what he told me). Here is the issue: 1: his food intake decreased drastically and he became very lethargic...

I do not have anything at night. But I will by the end of the weekend.

    New sulcata owner

It is coconut coir and I do spray it to keep it moist, I will try to keep a better eye on the humidity level and make sure it is enough when I am doing so. I have a Powersun uv heat lamp. I will have to swap out the rocks he is 100% unable to swallow them but i hadn't thought of other injuries...

I can easily increase the temperature in his basking area, but any suggestions on how to increase the overall temperature and humidity? I am already working on his diet, however he will refuse to eat for days if I do not give him some of what he is used to so it is currently a struggle. He...
