Thank you. What a cutie. You are lucky he eats! Ours just looks at the food. But we don't leave him in his soak with food for an hour, only a half an hour. Maybe we should leave him with the food for a longer period. The problem with live food is the bugs end up crawling on him. The worms wrap...
Still not eating. Today we tried a slug and he had no interest. In fact, the slug crawled on his shell after each time we put it back in front of him. Ugh.
I took him to the vet today. He said he looks good, but is much too thin. He gave him metronidazole in case he has worms and a shot of Vitamin B to hopefully stimulate his appetite. If he goes back to eating we don't need to do another metronidazole, but if he doesn't we are supposed to go back...
Yes we are leaving them in there. We know he's not eating them because we see them in the moss.
I think we last saw a poop on Thursday. It was brown. We saw it while soaking him. Didn't soak him Saturday though so I don't know if he pooped then.
We have a large property and have no shortage of pillbugs. Sadly he seems to have no interest in them and now no interest in crickets either. :( The cricket will crawl on his shell or even on his head and he does nothing. We are trying everything for this stubborn turtle. On Saturday he weighed...
Just wanted to share the happy news...our turtle ate another cricket today! I am so happy. I dusted it with vitamin and calcium powder first and will go buy the Fluker food to feed the other crickets we have for the next day.
Are pillbugs or crickets healthier for him?
Thanks for the help.
Thanks, Pearly. He ate a cricket this morning!!!!!! We are so excited. Yesterday we gave the crickets some raw mushroom and today we will give them some egg and strawberries. Are there better things to feed the crickets?
My son found some pillbugs and put them in this evening. We don't think he ate any yet.
5-6" substrate sounds like a lot. And we need to clean the habitat weekly? That's a lot to take out each week.
if my turtle stays in almost the same place all the time why do I need to move him to a new and...
I will try to calm down with the questions, but had one more to bug you guys with....is it ok if the turtle is in the room next to the laundry room and hears the washing machine and dryer maybe once a day?
Also, and I'm not at all sure about this, but I can't find the cricket our son gave him...
