What's the best thing to use to disinfect it? We rescued him just a little over a year and a half ago, and this is the first time he's ever had any sort of injury, so I'm new to what all is and isn't harmful to their little bodies.

Is it worth me trying vinegar tonight? I always have some on hand since I use it to clean, so as long as it's okay for him and won't hurt him, I'd be willing to try it. I'd be comfortable with that versus trying to pull it out. Is there any sure-fire way to tell it's a tick?

I apologize for the late reply. We did get him from a rescue here in town, but he hasn't been dropped or thrown while in my care for sure. There's no shell rot to wore about, in your opinion? That's been my biggest worry.

I gave him a mini carrot cut up into tiny pieces about 2 weeks ago. I read on a forum 1 mini carrot a month is okay.....but since this happened I've rethought that idea. I use calcium powder twice a week on his lettuce. I also soak him 2xs a week for about 20-25 minutes each time.

As far as I know, he hasn't eaten any dandelions or anything along that line. I feed him a 50/50 mix but he loves the purple lettuce, like radicchio and red leaf lettuce. I'm hoping that's what it's from. He will go through the food we give him and eat just those leaves! He only got the 1 carrot...
