I was a friend of Doug Foster from Hogtown Herpetological, in Gainesville Fl. He tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident. Seeing his photo was startling, but brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing this.
He does look dry. I bath my guy every day. You might want to increase the humidity to at least 80%. Just my suggestion. There are a lot of people here much more knowledgable than I am about tortoise care. Maybe post a photo of your habitat.

Ok - somewhat good news. This is the reason for the prolapse to begin with - see photo. We knew with the x-rays the other day, that he had two 1 1/2 cm pebbles in his stomach. But they were not in his intestines which made it appear that he was ok with them in there, and...
No it is definitely a prolapse. Flashing doesn't last days. And the Vet is very experienced and knows what is going on. But I do appreciate the suggestion.
He's not doing too well. The Doctor who is very well known and respected as a reptile specialist (Dr. Steven Barten) put a stitch on either side to try to hold it in - but the next day he had a minor prolapse again. So Dr Barten added yet another stitch and gave him a shot of antibiotics (...
EllieMay & Yvonne G - You guys were absolutely right. Juliet is a male. :) But the inflammation is such that he needed surgery - a couple of stitches on either side. He also has 2 pebbles in his stomach that he'll hopefully pass. But he's been eating and pooping like normal and we're hoping...
** Update ** They'll take x-rays & test her poop for parasites or infection. Then she's headed into surgery where they will move the prolapse back in, and stitch it up. The prolapse was small and could have been much worse. Dr. Barten did say that I did a good job with her as she looks healthy...
