Just a funny story for you all:
I was driving my big guy to the vet for a checkup (he's in great shape :) ) and I had my guy in a tote next to me in the passenger seat. The sound he made scared the crap out of me. I looked over expecting to see Chewbacca next to me because I swear that's the...
Hello, this is Nikolai! He is 4 years old. I've never owned a russian before and I have no idea what I'm doing. I have 2 sullies, but I know the needs are different.
I have this bark stuff as substrate, but I plan on switching to eco earth soon. I've already put up a border (not pictured). Temp...
Both my guys have grown so much. My baby (Tippie) is just about 2 years old And I've had her since a baby. Her pyramiding has been a battle, but she's getting better. Happy to report she is 2lbs 4oz!
I've had Ollie since Feb. He is about 3 years old (found him on here). He is 25lbs!!
I'm so...
Is it wrong that I discourage people from getting Sullys? I often get people asking where/how much I got my torts and expressing interest in getting one (or more). BUT I've seen so many rescues that are in terrible condition due to lack of proper care. So instead of encouraging it, I discourage...
Ollie is home! He's not used to us yet, which may take a while. I'm gonna give him some space and time to get adjusted. A special thanks to txturtledude for letting us adopt this handsome guy!!
Recap: Tippie ran away for 6 months and came home with a few spots of she'll rot. I tried antifungal cream for a week, which seemed to make things worse. Went to the vet and got some baytril shots.
Anyhow, the baytril shots don't seem to be helping at all, though it doesn't seem to be getting...
After 6 long months, my baby is finally home!! This sweetie ran away 6 months ago and I thought for sure that she was a goner (winter) but by the grace of the reptile gods, she made it home! One of our neighbors spotted her this morning and sent me a message.
It looks like she's had a rough time...
I'm a little concerned for my Tips. She was gaining really good for a while, but her weight is slowing down. He's at 530is grams right now. I got her last Oct. And she was a baby, but I'm not 100% sure when her birthday is. Assuming she was 2-3 months old when I got her, she's around 1 year old...
Tippie doesn't seem to be drinking much lately. Her appetite is wonderful, so no concern there. I put a large terracotta dish in her enclosure that I fill every morning, but I haven't seen her drinking from it (or even wading in it for that matter). She still soaks 3x a week in the tub. I've...
I bought a bunch of succulents from a local nursery so that I can make a. Succulent garden in Tippie's outdoor enclosure. Most of them were easily found on tortoise-table.uk, but 4 of them I can't find. They are: Graptosedum 'California sunset'
Echeveria 'frosty'
Pachyveria 'powder puff'...
Tippie is coming up on 1 year old. She made a noise today!! It was like a grinding sound from her neck. I'm so excited for her to make noise! What does this noise "mean"? (Ex: dogs bark, it means go away, cats purr, it means they're happy)
I'm in the process of making Tippie's outdoor enclosure. Right now I just have the basic perimeter. I have wire going 4" into the ground at most places to prevent digging out (need more wire). I know I still need to make a "house" and put in some pool/water area and I need to put up wire to...
Deweeding* Sprays (Sorry, had to fix that)
I just moved to a new house. I know they used chemical sprays in the yard, since it is a brand new house in a developing subdivision. How long until I can let Tippie graze on the grass? I don't want her to get sick on the chemicals they use.
You know how chickens lay eggs regularly, whether a male is around to fertilize them or not? Do sulcatas do the same? I'm just curious for future reference.
This is a picture of Tippie the month after I got her ANd the second is from today. I feel like the new growth is much better, but is this good enough? I just want my Sully to be healthy :)
Tippie had some runny poop yesterday. It wasn't watery, just not the consistency it usually is. Is there so.ething wrong? How do I fix it? He's fed nothing but grasses and weeds like clover, dandelion, etc. Plus I finally got him to eat some Mazuri for the first time the other day.
My dad bought be this today. It is super heavy, around 50-60lbs. I'm torn about whether I should paint it or not. IF I do, I'll paint it to look like Tippie (Sulcata). What are your thoughts?
I've noticed a few others have posted about their baby-to-yearling sulcatas not eating very much. Does this have anything to do with the weather?
I, too, have noticed that my sully is not eating as much as he/she usually does lately, but I'm not too concerned because he/she usually makes up for...
