Hi folks,
It's been a while since I've posted but Squash, my yearling red-foot tortoise, has been well and active. I was giving him/her (will just use him for now) his usual water bath and checking him out when I noticed inflating and deflating lumps on either side of his neck. I assume they...
TFO,
It is with great trial and error that I approach you for advice. When I first got Squash I thought I had diet in the bag. I quickly learned that tortoises, like ourselves, have personalities and distinguishing factors that make each one unique.
I got Squash, a hatchling redfoot tortoise...

The night-time temperatures could certainly play a part--and I agree, he can probably tolerate the light lamp for a couple nights. Anyhow, I order my Opuntia from tortoisesupply (http://www.tortoisesupply.com/Cactus) and it's sent right to my doorstep mostly despined. They do have a...
I do the tilt with a closed chamber enclosure. I hit +85% relative humidity with about 2 sprays a day--1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Regrettably, I used particleboard with 2 coats of paint and many coats of spar urethane. Sealed edges with 100% silicone. Still working a top part for it...
Have you considered using fresh opuntia cactus in place of fruit for your russian? Same idea--blend the cactus to a mush and spread it across whatever other greens you might have
Thank you! I am getting the hydrofarm thermostat--I hope it is okay to use with CHE's / heat bulbs. Q&A in the Amazon reviews says it's okay so i'm going for it.
