They are so cool! nice habitat also. I wanted a Red Foot, but then Asia came along and needed a home so I took her in. I don't have any more room due to my Red Tail Boa, And spider ball Python. Like I mentioned earlier Asia is an eight year old female Russian.
Thanks for your advice, I will look into the humidifier. your Tort's picture is awesome, how old is she (he), again thanks for going the extra mile with your info, appreciated.
Your welcome, sometimes it's best just to let nature run its course. You were there when the little guy needed protection, and time to heal. Job well done.
Thank you for your answer, I am going with your input. I will remove some of the present mix and increase the remaining with additional coir.
You were a big help! Tortle10, (Bob)
I have a 8 year old russian, daytime tank temp about 95 degrees, I have sprayed multiple times a day only to have it turn back to dusty environment within an hour?
I have an 8 year old female Russian Tort. I read in numerous places that to dusty an environment will cause respiratory infections, as well as eye issues. I have her in a 40 gallon breeder tank until I can put her outside. Spraying the substrate does no good at all within an hours time the top...
Hey Sh3wulf Tortle10 again,OOPS, Just looked at the picture and yes it is most definitely a milk snake. Not in the rat snake family, don't normally do well in captivity and from the ones I have had in the past,(wild caught) don't care to be handled. You would be better with a corn snake, lol
Hey Sh3wulf, Love corn snakes also known as red rat snakes, they are constrictors, feed on small rodents, and are excellent climbers. In the wild they are mostly nocturnal. They do well in captivity and are quite friendly most of the time. feed him pinkies for now, than small mice as he is able...
Hey Sissy, your Garter snake probably won't eat anything dead; your best bet is a small toad or frog. I have never known a Garter to turn down a toad. Do to the trauma this little guy has gone through he may not eat in which case it would be best to turn him back to the wild. Hopefully he is...
Hey everyone, quick question. I was using organic top soil and cypress bark, but WAY to dusty I mean clouds of dust so I switched to 50% play sand 50% Zoo Med Eco Earth, compressed coconut fiber am I OK with this? With the organic top soil and cypress I was concerned about respiratory issues.
Hey grandpa, thanks for the tip. Rite now she turns her nose up at anything that has Zoo Med on it. Definitely knows what she wants and doesn't want, lol
