The plant produces another flower, so I guess I should update here ... A friend told me the common name is blood lily. I did a check on wiki, seems correct but I can't say for sure which species.

    Indoor mulberry?

My MEE won't eat it. Funny thing is that they like the smell, will take a bite, and then spit it all out. Tried several times, feeding only leaves, whole branch, and let it there for a few days, they just won't touch it. The only time they eat it is if I cut it small and mix with Mazuri. Not...

need HELP!just got a pair of impressa tortoise

I am no expert here, but I don't think that is true. The death is most likely due to the combination of unsuitable captive environment and unhealthy diet. Unless if they have a documented case study to prove that. How big are they?

    red-footes enclosure

I would suggest keeping it indoor until around 20cm. Even then, you still need to make sure no dogs, cats, or birds get into the enclosure. On average, humidity is around 80% here. But due to basking lamp, heater, or direct sun, sometimes it might drop to less than 50%. You won't need...

Difference in keeping brown mountain tortoises and Greek?

I think the Greek might stay relatively smaller among those. I can only comment on MEE, as I have no experience with others. You might not be able to house them indoor for very long, eventually you need to move them out. They get big, dislike sun, will climb pretty much everything including...

Yeah, I am aware of that. I think we still do not have any scientific explanation on how they can consume those colocasia plants with no ill effect.

Probably poisonous means we keep it out of our tortoises, better be safe. Having said that, one of my brown mountain tortoise ate maybe one leaf few months back, didn't seem to have any ill effect. Thanks, will post a pic of flower next time it blossoms.

I should probably mentioned that all three pictures are from the same plant. The first one shows the leaves, second is the steam and some smaller newly growth , and third is the flower of the plant, but passed the peak, wilting down now.

    Tested the "rain chamber" effect.

I wish mine will sit in the water ... I tried the food in the water trick, used to throw taro leaves into the pool. Occasionally they will stay inside after finishing the food, but most of the time they will just walk away. Will try if warm water makes any difference. Thx for the tips.

    Tested the "rain chamber" effect.

Great info , thanks for sharing. I wonder if this is only for younger tortoise or this is also the case for adult. Btw, how do you soak those bigger tortoise ? and how often ? They are always trying to climb out as soon as I put them into the tub. They do have a shallow pool where they can...

    questions for keeping manouria impressa

Hi there , I don't keep any impressa and not an expert . But I would agree with juli11 , and from what I read , they stay in deep forest with lots of vegetation and cover , not much direct sun light will reach the ground , thus while the region temperature might be over 30°c , the ground...

Thanks for the suggestions, Berkeley. The male is around 36cm and 8kg , and female is smaller , around 33cm and 5kg. I believe they are adults , male with big tail and concave plastron , female with tiny tail and flat plastron. They finished half a kg of cucumbers the other day , I offered 3...
