What do you feed your Eastern box turtle?

I was given two Eastern box turtles about four months ago. I've been feediing them chopped kale, chopped lettuce, chopped carrots, chopped cauliflower and peas and corn. They really love earthworms, too. What else can I feed them to give them variety? I would sure appreciate any ideas.

Can't tell if my Eastern box turtle is sick or not

I was given two Eastern box turtles about four months ago. They have been doing great, I have a pen outside for them with a mud wallow and they love it. Now because I live in northern New England it is too cold and I have them inside in 70 degrees. I noticed the other night one of them wasn't...

    Percy and his "Pet" Terrier

I love it. Sometimes Fred acts just like a dog. He will come to me when I call him. Too funny.

    Quarantining

I just adopted two really cute box turtles. But I want to keep Fred, my sulcata, safe. Is it okay to put both tortoise and turtles in the same indoor room if they are in separate boxes? They won't be sharing food or space, just air. I still have to take them to the vet to get checked over.

Bumps on shell--Can they be flattened?

Fred is nine pounds. I'm guessing he's about 4-5 years old. He definitely has the pyramiding. His scutes are very prounounced. I would love to send a picture but read the directions to do this and it's just too complicated for me, I'm afraid.

I found a dog in my yard -- headed straight for my Sulcata

Fred spent a glorious day outside today. It was hot (80) and he really enjoyed moving about in his pen. Towards the end of the day I walked outside and there ws a stray dog standing in my driveway. I took one look at him and started running toward Fred's pen. I was terrified this dog had maybe...

    NATURAL BURROWS

I don't think it has ever occurred to Fred that he can dig. We have him on top of our sewer berm so he could really get lost in there if he digs a hole! :)

Bumps on shell--Can they be flattened?

Fred's got quite a bumpy shell. I was told this was due to an imbalance in the calcium/phosphorous ratio. I am wondering if I can do something to get his shell to smooth out. Has anyone had any success with this, and what did you do?

What would happen if my Sulcata bit me?

Do Sulcatas have teeth? What would happen if Fred accidentally bit me? I'm wondering if it would be painful. Not that I'm planning to put my finger in his mouth any time soon. Just wondering.

What to do with the poo

I toss mine in the trash because I'm worried the birds in my yard will get some zoonotic disease. It is possible to transmit salmonella. I also worry about my dogs when they are outside.

What to do with the poo

I think they would make great Christmas ornaments. Just dry them and then paint them.
