Hi All:
Does anybody have experience with a very small-bodied tortoise - mine is likely characterized as a "dwarf" in the vet medicine profession, due to early trauma and illness, so she just hasn't grown as large as others her age.
She is very likely around 7 years old now, and has laid one...
Has anybody ever had a reptile vet administer Telazol to your tortoise?
If so, would you please respond and let me know how it went, why it was given, if there were side effects, etc, etc?
Thank you in advance!
Karen
Gained 24g (or 1.2 ounces) in 2 months. I think it's ok- any comments?
Also, his shell is filling in from being lopsided when he came out of his egg, and with little grooves and wrinkles in it especially on his plastron...

Hi All you redfoot breeders and companions (N2Torts...):
My baby hatched on January 23, 2016.
The "seam" healed fine, and he's growing - I draw around him and weigh him every 7-12 days and he's gaining weight and his lopsided shell is evening out now.
Having said that, with just a bit of...
This is my baby I just adopted from N2Torts at http://www.tortoisecove.com/
Father is hypomelanistic redfoot, mother is Venezuelan redfoot.
I don't really understand the genetics as N2Torts does- I'm just kind of parroting some of the things the breeder taught me about my baby's bloodline...
As some of you already know- I've never had a baby redfoot from a good, strong bloodline that came to me by way of a world-class breeder - before now.
We've always had rescues that "came to us" unexpectedly, and on the spur of the moment, simply because we couldn't stand by and watch them die...
I received this request for help, and wondered if anybody with experience can take this wonderful old desert tort from this couple who is regretfully giving him up due to life changes - please email them directly with email addresses at the end, if you are interested or know somebody who can...
Hi:
I'm looking for a young redfoot with a heart shaped scale in her/his head.
It will look like a Valentine heart on Hallmark cards and will be easily recognizable as a heart shape - not blob-ey or vague.
If you hatch a redfoot with this mark, or have one, or know someone who has her/him...
i have a redfoot baby that is only around 2 1/2 years old, but he weighs 5 pounds, 5 ounces.
Has anybody ever seen a baby redfoot this big at this age? His sibling from the same clutch of eggs is only 1pound, 3 ounces but he's unusually small and frail from being very ill nearly his entire...
Hi All redfoot keepers:
My "baby" rescue has been growing at a really aggressive rate since about 4 months after we adopted him, got him treated for various deficiencies and ailments, and then put him in his own, large table and getting him outside to exercise in our 80' x 60' yard (always...
Hello to all of you breeders, long-time keepers/moderators, tort rescuers with extensive experience in getting tortoises treated, and all of the top-flight medical professionals on this forum who would like to ring in both with opinions and medical information.
I have been reading extensively...
Hi: Does anybody who is experienced with redfoots (and possibly neglected rescued redfoot babies) know anything about seeing mucous in their urine?
I have one redfoot baby who has had health problems since the day we brought him/her home from a horrific "pet store/feed store" environment, and...
Hi: I just found a great local tortoise forum on FB that I joined. They were telling both remedies and horror stories about ear abscesses in redfoots- but I imagine this is good for other species too.
One lady took her juvenile tortoise (recently rescued with an ear abscess) to a "reptile...
This is a feed store that should stick to baby chicks and ducks - and, well FEED.
They have dog and cat accessories, some bowls and bird cages, and FEED.
Recently (maybe 3 years ago or a bit more) they added tropical fish in the back room, which is NOT temperature regulated, so in the winter...
Rest in Peace my perfect, little, good, loving, playful Gibson Sunburst (Gib, Gibby, Goo-Goo, Precious one, lovely baby...)
The terrible journey of the past 2 weeks ended yesterday for Gibby. He died on a heating pad next to me while I was rubbing his shell just like he liked.
He had a...
My little 3-year-old RF Gibby has had it rough lately. I put all that into another post here, with before and after xrays documenting the hard object Gibby swallowed, and has since passed:

Hi all Redfoot keepers- my dear little Gibby, is sick. I need your help and I can't find anything at all on these symptoms. That may totally be because I don't know the words to use on a search on the Health boards.
Will someone please help me? He is scrubbing and scrubbing at the sides of...
Lovely little Gibby's recent "climbing phase"...
He loves to get almost vertical, then try to stick like that with his head tucked in.
In the first photo he's trying to find his balance, then he pulls his back feet up and braces his feet against the leg of the table and the back of his shell...
Hi: I've had little Gibby since May of 2013 - he fit in the palm of my hand and had the last vestiges of an egg tooth when I got him.
He's the first and only tortoise I've ever known as a baby, and learned everything about care here on the forum (and THANK YOU to all of you who have helped me...
