I did try coco coir and that got a white fluff on it. The herbifloor claims to be especially for tortoises. I feel like i'm doing everything right except the substrate. nothing I try seems to be perfect. =[

He is a Testudo Hermanni Hermanni so he is a little smaller than a regular Testudo Hermanni Boettgeri, I think his paper work just says Testudo Hermanni but after a but of research I think he is Hermanni hermanni (he has the key hole pattern on the back of his shell).
