I'm planning to fix a new indoor enclosure for my Russian tortoise in the summer. I've seen so many amazing enclosures on this forum! I plan on using a 50-gallon rubbermaid container, like this one...
My Russian Tortoise hasn't eaten in a few days. He doesn't usually have this problem, though he is a very pickey eater. Many times if there is romaine mixed in his meal he only eats that. Lately I've been trying lots of different lettuces and taking him outside more often since its getting...
I am planning on getting a new enclosure for Speedy, my Russian Tortoise. Can you tell me if this one is okay because I really like it!
It's called the Zoo Med Tortoise House. The dimensions are 36x24x12. is it big enough?
When i first got my Russian tortoise, Speedy, He used to try to bite my fingers too! He stopped after a few months though. I think he learned that fingers are not for eating! :)
How much should I feed my russian tortoise? He has an indoor habitat because where I live he cant live outside. I've heard you are supposed to feed them as much as they can eat in 20 min. daily... is this true? I might be feeding him too much. I feed him a small handfull of food twice a day.
How do you disinfect a tort's food/water bowl? I usually pour fresh water into his bowl twice a day, but how do you actually kill all the germs (without using chemicals that harm the tortoise)?
once in a while I see these tiny little bugs crawling all over my Russian Tortoise's pen: on his food bowl, on his rock, his shelter, even some on him. The bugs are puny and light brownish in color. Are they harmful to my tortoise? How do I get rid of them? Please help!
Hello! I'm Speedy_tortoise. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier! Like my name, I have a male russian tortoise named speedy :)
oh, and don't be too surprised if I ask a LOT of care questions, because I like to make sure that speedy is happy and healthy. See you around!
see, I don't grow my own food for my tort, so I pretty much rely on grocery store greens. I do have an aloe plant, which was on the edible plant list. Am I just supposed to feed him a piece of aloe?
