I got my first tortoise as a child back in the early 70's, unfortunately it didn't survive. Someone I worked with found a baby Hermann torty in a watering can in his overgrown garden this summer(2016). By the middle of November he realised he didn't have the equipment to properly look after it and asked if I would like it. Naturally I nearly bit his hand off at the chance. A little resarch and £100 lighter in the purse and everything was ready for the new arrival to my family. I now have a beautiful little 'girl' (I know but i've decided she's a she) called Laurel and I'm completely in love, my husband is a little besotted too, and my children are already begging to be the one to inherit her.
