She climbed on the other tortoises back once, I do have a spare set up incase on bullies another.
Again she is humping the wooden rock but now is making new a sort of panting noise.
Here is a picture of her underneath and tail, could someone sex this tortoise
My 6 year old, female, Russian tortoise has recently started climbing on top of my other female tortoise and also a rock in the enclosure.
She sort of humps my other tortoise and the rock and this is making me think she is really a he?
Does anyone kno why this is happening
Lately my 6 year old, female, Russian tortoise has been a thing really strange. She keeps climbing on top of a wooden rock and looks like she is trying to have sex with it?
The pet shop told me she was a girl but now I'm wondering if she is really a he!
I have another female tortoise and she...
Thanks, I will look into buying an outdoor enclosure for them! Yea I've had them together for about 6 months now and they seem fine, I do monitor ye behaviour and they don't really acknowledge eachother.
However, I do have a spare tank incase I do notice anything and I will then keep them seperate
Thank you! I'm just worries incase there has been any rats that have wee'd/poo'd and they eat the soil.
The backgarden is in the process of getting new grass laid down so for now the soil is bumpy which I think they'd enjoy climbing on
I live in the UK so the weather over here is not the best, the weather had picked up lately and is quite sunny outside. I was wondering if my Russian tortoises (age 4 and 6) would be able to play out in the back garden?
I'm just worried incase they eat anything that could be poisonous to them
Everytime I think my tortoises aren't acting themselves I'll do this for them and it seems to work everytime, just ensure you have the right temperatures as if it's too cold they tend to want to sleep and not eat
If your tortoise has not eaten it's recommended to bathe him/her in baby food, preferably carrot flavour as this restores the nutrients it needs.
My horsefield tortoise went through a phase of not eating, I think the temps was too low, after a 30 minute bathe in carrot flavoured baby food...
I have bought new lights today and I'm waiting for the delivery of my UVB. I purchased a tube UVB light which is 50cm long and 20 watt. Here is their clean home
Can anyone recommend to me a good UV light for my 2 horsefield tortoises. Preferably from ebay? And also of a daytime should I have both a UV and basking lamp on?
