Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted on here but we moved into a new house and that has kept us busy to say the least! BT has been getting bigger everyday and is currently wintering over in a pen in the living room. He appears to be thriving, super active everyday and eating like a...
Hi all! I hope everyone has had a great summer, I know BT had had a blast cruising through his outside pen all day. As fall has arrived however he's back inside his tortoise table. However even though it's to cold for him there is still lot of grass growing in his pen, I was wondering if anyone...
It wasn't really gritty but it was definitely thicker than toothpaste, more like clay. But I'm definitely gonna start soaking him every night. I'm thinking of having him radiographed at work tomorrow just in case anything has mineralized
Hey guys, I just had a quick question about BT my 8mo Sulcata. Recently he's been outside a lot and I've been working night shifts with my boyfriend bringing him in before dark and putting him to bed. The temps here have been around 85-98 with rain shower in the afternoon which unless one of us...
Haha I know it wasn't really something I thought about either until I was watch him eat last night, I haven't noticed any different behaviors or change in feces etc doing this. It almost seems like he likes dinner the most but really I think he just likes being fed ;)
If you're looking for anything with herps definitely any book by Mader, they can be expensive but worth it. I really like my "Health Care and Rehabilitation of Turtle and Tortoises" quite a lot :)
Hey guys I just had a quick question. I usually make BTs chow (Mazuri, ZooMed Grassland, Herbal Hay, Critical Care, Repashy, Mixed Grass Hay) in the morning and keep the other half in the fridge during the day feeding it that night. I just wanted to make sure that feeding colder foods wasn't...
Hey all I just finished building an outdoor enclosure for BT during the summer. This is the first summer I'll have had my little sully and I just wanna make sure everything is looking so far so good. We made it 8'x4' with untreated Douglas fir planks, and filled it in with an organic no...
Ok so I'm not sure about the Ceftadizime (fortaz) Gentamicin (amikacin) being used together on her but if they think they can implant a feeding tube do it! Honestly my desert tortoise had one placed and it made life so much easier. Feeding and and keeping her hydrated was no issue and I was able...
Fortunately that not a super vital area but I agree apply neosporin and keep it clean. Eventually the bone around it will probably lose it's blood supply and won't be an issue. I'm sorry this happened to the little bug!
I mean sure she could have swallowed it but they swallow all kinds of weird stuff. My baby sulcata probably swallows coconut coir every day without issue. I'd at this point just monitor. Make sure she's still eating and drinking and doesn't seem completely miserable of it continues or worsens...
If she has some kind of parasite depending on the type, ova aren't constantly being shed in the feces. They tend to a few weeks intervals were you won't see many. Try the Panacur and monitor for the next few weeks.
