Have her 5 weeks. 3 days ago she dug herself deep in the 6: Substrate and is still there. The room is no colder than 68 ever. Will she stay there for the winter. I am in PA and put a UV-A/B light on for 10 hours a day.
Well I just released her. I truly hated to do it. I had her about 2 1/2 months. Released her in a state gameland area. She will have to go miles to get on a road. Streams near by. If I find another I will take (hopefully him) to the same area. I feel good to set her free.
I know what you are saying about assuming you don't take care of her. Forums are like that. She can go a good long time without water. Its a function of the temps. She is hunkering down right now. Comments like checking in the morning are a good idea
I had a huge outdoor pen and between 12 and 18 turtles at a time. Takes a while for them to eat after you change their environment. They are stressed from the move IMHO
Already got him out of the tank. He will stay outside during warmer weather and come inside this fall. I will house her in my man cave.
I have only hade the box turtle for 4 months. I will be releasing her in a state forest. I have researched it. Streams nearby and miles away from a road...
Elizabethtown PA. I have an inside housing and an outside one which is say 2' x 10'. The llast is a pic of my Eastern Box Turtle which I will release tomorrow.
Just got a Russian Female. I have read up on their care. I have liquid calcium and a UVB light on the way.
I had many Eastern Box turtles in the past. Hoping to learn on this forum
They eat anything. When they are introduced to a new environment they don't always eat right away. I used to give mine raw hamburger with some cod liver oil on it. Also liquid calcium on it.
