Because they are still in their nursery.. waiting to have their first meal and develop their eating habits -
they are under a flor. bulb which plays with the colors.. BUT they are yellow-orange!

You can see those colors ( NOT RED ) in their mother shown here with their father -

And you thought that's how you tell a "Cherryhead" !

Cute and beautiful.

Are they going stay in that color? Or they will become cherry color when they grow bigger??

One of my Redfoots is quite yellow as well!

Christina your yellow one is Colombian which is North of the Amazon river.

These in this thread are Brazilian [ South of the Amazon.. aka Cherryhead ] which you can tell virtually 'out-of-the-egg' by the dark seams on the plastron.. see the yolk-sac in the final stages of being absorbed -

boua they will most likely favor their mother's colors and will not be 'cherry color'.

There's one in the inursery ncubator now.. that is real dark.. I'll post pics when he's out of the incubator - another Brazilian!

Hey Nerd,

Actually, Rambutan's first clutch came out yellow! They ended up darkening up to a pale orange like their mom. They were some of the neatest colors I ever hatched.

Hi Allegra..

What everyone must understand is that Brazilian / Cherryhead Redfoots are seldom as light as you and I have shown here!

What we have shown here is the extreme.. not typical.. there is always exceptions.

"Most" everyone thinks/considers a "Cherryhead" as being this red - some even darker red!

At least that's what everyone asks me if I have any!

All babies will darken to some extent.. if they start out yellow they will end up looking like their parents.. like Allegra showed. Her babies were pale yellow-orange and they ended up pale orange.

Thanks! Good to know!

Now I've seen that they become much darker as they get older?

Don't expect yours to get much darker yellow Christina.. because the parents being from Colombia - [ NOT Brazil ] - were void of any red in most cases.
