where to get some russians tortoise..?

i want to get 2 russian tortoise im totally ready now to provide them with the correct food, shelter and attention..
i live in Chicago, the weather in the summer should be fine for them but not during winter.. thas why i built a nice place for them to be as comfortable as possible.
i have everything that i need now all i need is the tortoises.. lol
please some help.. i don't want to get them just from any place..
i want to make sure their healthy..

You can usually get some at Petco or Petsmart. also try kingsnake http://market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=152
Try Craigslist thier may be someone looking to get rid of some Russian tortoises in your area

like shelber10 said , but where ever you get them you always want to get them checked out from a good vet ... check ups are about 60 bucks and well worth it

you might want to start with just one... they dont always do well in pairs.....

Take a look through our "sold" and "for sale" section, make a note of names of those members who have sold them in the past, and contact them to see if they have any more for sale.

I agree; they don't do well in pairs. They do not need company or get lonely like humans do.

Russians are solitary in the wild and don't always share enclosures nicely regardless of their sex. When they fight, blood is frequently drawn.

Be prepared to have to keep them completely separately on a permanent basis. If you don't have the room for two enclosures, please only get one.

how big of a place are you building? bigger is better, but no gaurantee they will get along in it....just be prepared to house two seperately..

is about the size of a door lol..
well is pretty big im also building one outside wich it'll almost be 5yd..
ill keep them separate..
