Well, they're here. This forum can be to thank for this addition. I received three indotestudo elongata from Jay Frewer this morning. They are each from different bloodlines so ideally they can be bred as adults. Using a 40 gallon breeder as an enclosure for now. Was going to put them in a much larger enclosure, but then I found out that they are only two inches long. The aquarium is set up in the house so I'll be able to keep an eye on them until they are a little larger. Substrate is eco earth. I covered this with a shallow layer of madrone leaves. The only plant I am using in the enclosure is pothos. I decided to, instead of using a temperature gradient, create several microclimates. Ambient temperature is low 80s in the day with a small drop at night. There is a humid hide in one corner. This is filled with moist spaghum moss and remains a few degrees cooler (high 70s) than the ambient. There are several areas with deeper leaf litter and these also remain cooler than the ambient. The CHE is right above the water dish. This is right in the center of the enclosure to hopefully keep an even ambient temperature, and will keep humidity high at all times. There is also a 5.0 UVB strip light that runs the length of the enclosure. This is the only light provided in the habitat. The tank is also by a shady window so they will get some supplemental light, but no direct sun. I will keep you guys up on the progress of these little guys. In the next couple of months, I am hoping to put together an unrelated trio of Forstenii as well, but very happy with these guys right now. Here are some pictures of the tortoises and enclosure. Thanks for looking.
