Just got home from holiday on Indonesia today and found that our tortoise was attacked by a badger previous night, fortunately our son who was at home heard a commotion in the garden & investigated, He scared the badger off (fortunately a small one) & rescued the tortoise. He was lucky not to be severly mauled but appears to have a puncture wound through his foot where the badger was trying to open him up. Son applied first aid & sprayed with antiseptic.

Tortoise is a fit strong little chap of about 17 years old, he has been slowing down for a couple of weeks & it wont be long before he will want to hibernate, obviously with the injury we are not sure if this is advisable. He is now safely indoors.

Can anyone recomend a Vet in the Southend Essex area who is into Tortoises?

Can't see the injury. But keep him inside on towels not substrate and keep it clean, applying antibiotic cream or spray. Keep flies off
I would not brumate him unless the wound is totally healed.

Are you in Indonesia or the UK? It says Jakarta on your post info, but you are talking about brumation and Essex. You'll have a hard time brumating in Jakarta, and its springtime in England... And what type of badger are we talking about?

In any case, it sounds like your son handled everything perfectly. I can't see the damage either, but if it is minor, you probably don't need a vet.
