does he have a business name at all? shoot me a pm if you dont want to post is publicly. i would def like to add him to the list we are keeping
Thank you Tammy! 😭 I am on my way to take him back right now. I’m so worried that I infected my healthy baby. Only time will tell now. I’m so sorry for your loss. 😔This is so sad. I also had a bad experience with a baby Sulcata and this disease. Wish people were more aware and concerned, especially breeders.
Since he said he's never heard of Austwickia, it would be doing him a favor to print out the info on the disease and take it along with the tortoise.Thank you Tammy! 😭 I am on my way to take him back right now. I’m so worried that I infected my healthy baby. Only time will tell now. I’m so sorry for your loss. 😔
Be sure that anything you've used on the sick tort gets washed in or scrubbed out with ammonia or thrown out. That's the only cleaner possibly working to kill aw. Bleach will not do it.Thank you Tammy! 😭 I am on my way to take him back right now. I’m so worried that I infected my healthy baby. Only time will tell now. I’m so sorry for your loss. 😔
I informed him. He has since separated any tort w symptoms and cleaned everything will ammonia. He was very nice an apologetic about it. He did give me my money back and offered to replace my healthy tortoise, Spud, if he dies from it too. 😫. Im so scared that he is going to be infected as well. Only time will tell. I will keep you guys updated. 🤞🏻Since he said he's never heard of Austwickia, it would be doing him a favor to print out the info on the disease and take it along with the tortoise.
Thank you so much everyone for your support! I will keep everyone updated on if my healthy tortoise contracts it. Being that I soaked them together I am pretty sure he will get it too. I feel so terrible. I was crying in bed last night. I just can’t believe this has happened. 😔😭. Thank you again everyone.cleaning everything sadly will not cure the animals themselves and it *may or may not* be enough to clean things. i have seen both cases where even with ridiculous amounts of cleaning it still affected other babies. make sure the ammonia has a long enough wet time so you cant just spray it then wipe it. honestly burning anything they touched is the best option. our contact info is in my sig as well as you can always message me if you have any questions. we have been working with this longer then i think anyone else out there and have TONS of lab work and many necropsies done.
What she said. Do not beat yourself up, SS. I'm glad you found this forum. We are here to help. You could not have known about this awful disease. Not your fault. We all learn from these bad experiences.
I'm so glad I saw this post-- I was eyeballing his post the other day but something told me something was off. Such a bummer, but that's the risk we take sometimes. Please keep us posted on how everything goes. I'm so sorry for this experience. His name is Mike. He’s in Orlando FL. I found him through a Craigslist ad. 😔
Hi! I realized I hadn’t updated everyone since the incident with Austwickia several months ago. It has been over 4 months since we returned the infected turtle. My healthy baby sulcata, Spud, who was exposed to the infected baby still hasn’t shown any signs. I know I am not out of the clear yet but I’m so happy that nothing has appeared yet. Nov 13th will be 5 months since the day he was exposed. Spud seems like he is happy and healthy. I’m hoping we lucked out and he will not becoming sick with it. I wanted to thank everyone for their support and help when I came to the forum panicking. You guys were a huge help and comfort to me. Thank you again 🥰looks like his add was pulled down now.
