I'd say. It was 74 degrees one night this winter in the little one's hide and he chose to sleep outside of it closer to the CHE heat.

Baby Sulcata growth and weight gain - too much?

Well one thing is for sure, you don't have to beg your little one to eat. You also can't force feed them so there is that. Just feed them all they want of the RIGHT foods. Search for "the best way to raise a sulcata" if you have not already. Tom's guide is spot on and just make sure that what...

Baby Sulcata growth and weight gain - too much?

No. That means you're doing things right and the tortoise is healthy. So my only experience is two sulcatas. That said, last year my little one stayed around 50 grams for a very long time before it started growing like yours. That one, Figgy, was 200g @ 6 months and 593g (almost 600g) tonight @...

    Figgy begins the growth journey

For scale, that plywood roof is 48"x48" plywood because I haven't cut it down and put on the metal roof yet. Figgy is now almost 600g (593 tonight) and 5 3/4" long 3" high and 4 5/8 wide @ 9months old. It's nice that he can't fit through any of our fencing at this point. Hoping for 2lbs @ one...

Tortoise walked away outside-- any ideas to attract him back?

I'd have to defer to experts that know if their pattern lightens as I have no experience with this species. We also have to overlook the possible lack of hydration if it is Chip.

    Opuntia Cactus

Len, if I recall you said you found them growing in the wild native to your area. I wonder if they would do the mild winters we've been having up here near Gettysburg? If so I need to get a whole bunch of them thriving.
