Saw these guys at the Zoo today. That little guy was really eager to ram every tortoise he came into contact with. Also saw a leopard in with the group..

Nice pix. What zoo did you visit? Utica, perhaps? Just curious.

That breaks my heart to be honest! Mixing tortoises with very little habitat - should not be allowed :(
I know! There was two leopards, they kept to themselves it is sad. They also didn’t have much room to roam.

I love going to the zoo! I Prob have more fun than the kiddos when we go
I love Zoos too. But the older I get and the more knowledge I get about animal care and Zoos misses, I don't enjoy them as much as I used too.
Same with reptile shows. I just get mad at the poor info so many vendors do and spue out. I'm always waiting to get kicked out lol. I just can't not say something.

What NOT to do:
1. Feed them lettuce and tomatoes. And don't add any supplemental fiber, or supplements of any kind. Check.
2. Mix species. Check.
3. House multiple males in the same enclosure and let the public watch them fight. Check.
4. Use chain link to contain them. Check.
5. Let them share a chain link fence with some large African hoof stock, so they can get kicked or stepped on. Check.

Was there water somewhere? Shelter?

I still love zoos, but man I wish they would do a better job in some cases.

I didn’t see water, but it kinda looked like they were able to get underneath the platform above so I was unable to see what was under there, but yes very limited space and they all were ramming eachother and one tortoise was flipped over and I was very concerned.

Why not be a zoo volunteer?
