This has been discussed before but unfortunately, most posts are so old the pictures are not available anymore.

Some background for intro: I have been daily going back and forth between buying 1 or 2 aldabras. I have read the advantages and disadvantages for both, 1 alone will be shy and lonely, 2 will inevitably need to be separated when they reach sexual maturity (2 males will fight, 1 male & 1 female will be overbreeding stressing the female). My conclusion is that it's best to get a creep of 3+ and keep then in a massive field of lawn grass as @ALDABRAMAN does. Unfortunately, this is not an option for me, therefore I should better not buy any since they will be happier left living their life in Seychelles.

Unfortunately, at 32 years of age, I am not mature enough to accept this reality:rolleyes: so I will probably buy 1 and if I decide so, get a second in a few years. (up to 30cm-5 year old they can ship from Seychelles).

Which brings us to my question.

I want to create a basic economic enclosure at my parents' place that will protect the baby from predators for the first 2-3 years until I construct my own house where I will create a nice enclosure with a lawn, maybe a water feature, a small pond, mudhole, etc. Something visually pleasing to keep in the front yard and also functional for the tort.

I have seen those coffin type of boxes with the shaded part on the sides but they are not suitable for my climate and the tort will outgrow those fast, it's not a 3-year solution. It can get really hot and dry in the summer some days more than 40C (105F) and that side box will just serve as a small oven it will not stop the scorching sun. The winter is usually sunny during the day and gets chilly at nights but never freezing, we have 330 days of sunshine. (see attachments for weather min and max)

I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, I need to build something like a chicken coup at least 10ft X 10ft with an inclined roof tall enough for me to stand in it. Inside the coup, I will add a 2ft X 2ft x 3ft hideout, a big bowl for drinking water and soaks but not deep enough to drawn if flipped over. I will also add a couple of plants to ensure the tort has shade at all times no matter the time of the day and some places with microclimates.

Inside the hideout, I must add a humidifier, lights for warmth and/or a pig blanket. I am totally lost on the last one, please advise what type of humidifier and warmth equipment I should use.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestion and advice. Thanks!
