A tongue depressor would be like a small toothpick for an alligator snapper. I was thinking they might try some small metal tool, but the approach they took was much safer for all involved, even the snapper.I don't know why, but my speakers didn't work for this video. Why didn't they stick a tongue depressor into the turtle's beak and pry it open?
Snake bites ! I'm so glad we don't have any rattle snakes in wi !! What's the craziest animal accident that you have seen while working there ?I'm an MD and an emergency medicine specialist and must say quite impressed with the ER physician and team in this case. We see some interesting cases and treatment dilemmas in most ER's, but in California we aren't likely see one like this unless it's a pet snapper. The only herp emergencies in California involve rattlesnake bites.
Wow ! That's crazy thank you so much for helping people , I have lots of respect for people like you guys , you save so many lives and deal with people's problems on a daily basis , THANK YOU !!All those involve the human animal and most are not appropriate for a family oriented forum. ;-). And in spite of and thankfully contrary to popular belief they don't involve small rodents.
I've dealt with several snake bites, but only one that was very serious. Otherwise the common serious injuries are dog bites, usually badly trained Pit bulls. We see bat encounters, etc., mostly routine stuff.
