i have recently liberated an adult female yellowfoot from a family member that was not caring for her properly at all. i tried to tell her how to care for her for years but she belived that the tort was fine, and that she was doing everything the right way but wasnt. on the last visit i saw how bad she was and told my mom that i was taking her and if i didnt she would die. the tort weighs about 15 pounds, and is a survivor. she was kept in the house free to roam but usually stayed by the fridge for the heat.. she has an RI. cats have scratched both her eyes, but she can see a litle out of one. i have put her in a huge dog kennal for now with high heat for her RI. she is on antibiotics and is very active but still very sick.. i am hoping to find someone that has the time, energy, devotion, and the resources to care for her.. she should of given up at least 2 years ago but is still fighting and still shows a strong will to live.. she has a personality to her that is uniqe and it breaks my heart to see her so unhappy right now.. if anyone can care for her properly and not give up on her please email me...

I wish you weren't so far away. I'd love to have her. I have two males and only one female. Being sick doesn't bother me in the least. Are you planning a trip from Texas to Central California any time soon. LOL!

Hi...I don't suppose you come to Mississippi to the casinos?
I would love to take her. I worked for a vet for 8 years who is also a reptile vet. I only have to pay for medications. I still rehab box turtles & tortoises for him.

That has got to be one of the saddest things I have ever heard....

To have to huddle next to a refridgerator to try and stay warm...

I can't believe that someone would so blatantly allow one pet to harm another like that! I mean, I have horses, and I *know* that accidental injuries happen, but dang...

Good luck finding her a wonderful home. The poor baby deserves it.

Hi...Did you find a home for the yellowfoot yet?
I don't know where Amry, MS is. What larger city is it near?
Do you have plans to visit him any time soon? I can meet you if you do.
Patsy

Hi There,
I live in the Austin, TX area and will drive to Waco in a heartbeat to pick up your tortoise.
I currently own 2 torts and would love to take her.
I have most of the meds and things she will need here because my hubby and I breed reptiles-www.sunkisseddragons.com

I also have a great reptile vet near by if there is something she needs that I don't have.

Please email me if you still have her.

Thanks

Hi Elisa...You should look at the date on the post. This is an old post (Jan) and the tortoise is probably not available anymore...:)
