We were at the pet store the other day looking at the turtles. We saw one we really liked and the owner said its a yellow cheeked mud turtle. Well since then I have been research them but can not find them. The closest I can find is the red cheeked mud turtle. It did not look exactly like the red cheeked but it was very close. Has anyone heard of a yellow cheeked mud turtle?

I don't think so. From the pictures I have seen it looks almost like a mix between a white lipped and a red cheeked mud turtle. It had a pale yellow smear down the side of its head extending onto it neck.

It was most likely a White-throated mud turtle, Kinosternon cruentatum albogulare

I just looked that one up that could be it I will have to look at the turtle in question again. I thought it looked like possibly the white lipped mud turtle but the white-throated looks very possible. Thanks Danny.

The white lipped mud turtle (Kinosternon leucostomum) is sometimes sold as yellow cheeked. Sounds like a nice turtle.
