Wild eastern box turtles

Was walking one of my dogs through the woods this morning collecting my weekly weeds. Came across some beautiful box turtles foraging on the mulberry, slugs, wild strawberry and other things. I found one on the beach too. I see these guys in the same range every year. These guys definitely occupy their own territories.

There's nothing more exciting than finding box turtles in the wild. They are such unassuming creatures, quietly going about their daily business, willing to let us pick them up and look at them, and then going back to their routine after we pass on along. We humans could learn a lot from these peaceful little critters...

Great post w/ pics! Thanks. Not many people really pay attention when they hike/walk. It's amazing to see what's there when you are really in tune.
