Oh, man, I gotta recharge my phone! Oh, wait that's yours. Cool looking little tortoise. it will be interesting to see a progression of images if that falls into your scheme of things.

Very different. Glad your keeping it so you can give us the progressive pics everyone so far is hoping for. Like one of it completely out of the shell head shot would be a nice beginning

My friend recently hatched out a South African leopard that looked similar to that. He also called it "xanthic". After about two or three weeks its color returned to normal.

I'll be very curious to see what this little one does. Please keep us posted, and thanks for sharing.

Like Tom, I too, have seen something like this happen every now and then with hatchlings from various species. They will come out with the yellow color suppressed ('axanthic' as you mentioned, skottip), but after a few weeks, the color returns to normal.

Here's a couple of pictures kind of showing what I have seen, at least with yellowbellied sliders. I know, nothing fancy. But it compares some that came out 'missing' their yellow and then a regular looking sibling.

And a normal sibling

I do hope though that it stays that color! I think that one may stay that way, it seems pretty pronounced. That would be really cool to see.
Best of luck!

Please post updated pics when you get a chance. Very neat variation.

I was curious as well. Usually once they are exposed to light it changes to a more normal coloring, but you never know what might pop up.

I'd really love to see :)
