Why wont my tortoise eat?

I just got my tortoise today and he hasn't or won't eat I've given him lettuce to eat and a water dish so he can get his water. we just moved him to my house from another one hes approx. 3 years old.

Tortoises don't like change. Set him up in his roomy, safe and secure enclosure and leave him alone. It could take up to two weeks for him to acclimate. In the meantime read our care sheet for Russian tortoises and learn how to take care of him. (Lettuce has hardly any nutrients)

Thats the only thing he eats besides strawberries is what the old owner said

Strawberries aren't recommended for your species of tortoise, because it is hard for them to digest sugars.

Try some dandelions, or any other weed you can find.

When I got my first tortoise, he did the same thing. He wouldn't eat the lettuce, strawberries, carrots, grapes, or apple slices I gave him, and then 2-4 days later he was eating. The trick is to just wait.
